      the Stud breeds to this standard as it is how the colour has always been described by members of the family since it first 
      presented in Australia in a Black/Black mating in the 1950s

Male and Female

Plumage =
all sections to be an even shade of chocolate brown
the male neck and saddles hackles to display a lusterous, darker shade of chocolate brown
under colour - chocolate


Comb, Wattles, Face and Earlobes - Red 
Eyes - black or dark brown , black preferred
Beak - dark brown or black , black preferred
Shanks and Feet - dark brown or black (blueish black allowed)
Soles of feet - white
Toenails - white


Defects / serious defects = as per the APS
also = red, yellow or orange eyes, yellow legs, yellow in beak, yellow or orange feathers

Type (body shape overall) MUST conform to the Orpington Standard
if the bird exhibits traits not corresponding closely with the Orpington Type/Standard it should be considered 
not a good Orpington
